The Best Gym For Startups: CrossFit

images (3)It's surreal to see an entire startup engineering team that could double as a troupe of volunteer firefighters. Yet, for the growing list of startups that are sending their workforce to the Navy Seal-friendly gym phenomenon, CrossFit, having an entire team of buff employees is surprisingly realistic. "We carry so much more energy throughout the the day after a workout," says Neverware co-founder Joshua Hefter, whose entire team regularly treks down to the Black Box Crossfit Gym in New York. The startup life has "a strong culture around group activity and intensity, and we found that those two things really describe the Crossfit experience."

Knowing If You Are Ready To Franchise Your Business

Franchise Business Law Blog: Tips On Being Ready To Franchise Your Business

Tips On Being Ready To Franchise Your Business

Franchising your business is a great way to expand your business without the requirements of upfront capital that company expansion would require. Franchising may appear to be the ?golden ticket? to financial security, but if you and your business are not ready to enter into the business of franchising, then the seeming golden ticket may end up being a mirage. This post is meant to give an overview of things you want to think about before taking the giant step into the world of franchising. Remember, if your business is not ready for franchising, pushing it there might result in ultimate failure. What is your Golden Egg? The reason the golden egg was worth such sacrifice and effort to obtain in the fairy tale of Jack and the Bean stock, was because it was unique. Everyone can obtain a regular egg, but the golden egg? that was unique and difficult to procure on one?s own. If you are considering taking your business to a franchise business, you need to have that ?golden egg.? You need to know what would draw a potential franchisee to not only consider your franchise concept, but pay you to be a part of it. This does not mean that your concept has to be a one of a kind or extraordinary concept or service, but the way it is done, or the manner it is procured needs to be something that would compel someone to buy. Closely examine your business to find out what unique element, idea or service you can offer your franchisees. Is your business a proven concept? Another way to ask this question is whether your business has worked out most of the kinks and if your business is ?turnkey? ready. A startup concept is typically not ready for franchising because the concept has not been worked out and tested in the market. Even if you have just a couple of stores or units open and operating, if they are successful and the public is accepting of the business, then your business model may be ready for franchising. There is no hard and fast rule as to how many stores or units need to be in operation before you are ready to franchise, but Is your business easy to learn? A successful franchise concept is going to be easy to learn. Some franchising guides will ask if your business is easily replicated. You may be worried that if your concept is easy then others will steal the idea and leave you behind. This is a risk with any business; but remind yourself of the first point above. A unique business does not have to be difficult to explain or replicate ?it just has to be unique in some way. You want your franchisees to be able to understand the concept immediately and to feel comfortable that they can be successful. A business model that can be easily taught and duplicated for your franchisees is a key element in being ready to franchise. What is being sold ?you or your business? Take a step back and determine whether your business is successful because of your stellar salesmanship, or the location, or another extraneous factor, or is it successful because of the concept meaning it can be successful if run in most locations and by most people. Of course this is generalizing things, but the point is, the concept itself needs to be saleable. If you take the super star location away or the super star salesperson away, will your concept still work. If the answer is yes, then you are on the path to being ready to franchise. Do you have the time to sell and teach your business? Franchising is a new business. You may have a successful business model for a store that you have been running, but franchising will take you away from that business and require you to focus on the new business of franchising. Some of the most successful franchises are those where the franchisor is committed to helping franchisees succeed and take the time to train. Most successful franchisors are dedicated to producing a symbiotic relationship with their franchisees. Do you have sufficient capital? While franchising requires less capital than self expansion would require, franchising is a business in and of itself, which requires capital. Here are just a few of the areas you will need to spend a substantial amount of money on: 1) Attorney fees. There are many regulations and rules at the federal and state level that are imposed on franchisors. In addition, there are regulated documents that must be provided to each potential franchisee and the requirements for those documents are strictly enforced. 2) Accountant fees. Every start-up franchise will need to provide an opening balance sheet and in some states, an audited balance sheet is required. You will also want to work with an accountant to set up your accounting system for franchisees, including how royalties will be collected, and what line items should be included in the reporting by franchisees. 3) Staff. Franchising is a new business and requires staff with a different set of skills than you have probably hired for your own business concept. You will need sufficient support staff. 4) Advertising. Every franchisor needs to understand the value of advertising and marketing. You will need to promote your franchise in order to sell your franchise. The above are just pointers and there are exceptions to most rules. However, by going through the list you can feel more confident in your decision to hold off on franchising or to move forward with franchising.

Real Estate Incurables ? Part 3

The third option to consider if struggling to sell your home, as noted in?Part 1?of our blog post on incurables, is renting.

Probe

The realtor?s first responsibility, when a client considers renting as an alternative to selling, is to question their reasoning.? If the homeowner?s thinking is to wait until prices are on?the rise, then that is certainly logical.? Providing,?of course, that the seller is in a position to do so ? financially and?otherwise.

Cutting Off Their Nose

Often, however, the homeowner makes such a decision while engulfed in emotional frustration without really thinking through the repercussions.? Hence, they make the decision to rent out of anger and end up ?cutting off their nose to spite their face.?? Since 2007, when the rhythm of the real estate market changed, we have had a number of clients make the decision to rent ?until the market improved? only to realize that it wasn?t really in their best interest to do so.? Consequently, they placed their home back on the market after renting for a year and?sold it?at a lower price then they would have had to the previous year.

Some Considerations to Selling vs. Renting

The realtor who fails to have a?open, honest and insightful?discussion with their client?essentially absconds their obligation.? Some things to consider for any homeowner who is weighing the option of selling vs. renting:

  1. Can You Afford to Rent ? How much of a loss can you afford to take if the rent doesn?t cover the monthly mortgage payment?
  2. Can You Afford to Sell ? If your home is worth less than your mortgage, do you have the cash at closing to satisfy the loan immediately?
  3. Tax Deductions -?If you need?additional tax deductions, you may be able to?write off?the loss and costs from rental properties.
  4. Is a short sale, whereby you sacrifice your credit score for years, a viable option?
  5. Time?Constraints?- Do you really have the time to attend to all the nuances that are involved with being a landlord.
  6. Will you rent your home furnished or unfurnished and what are the consequences of each?
  7. Wear and Tear ? One thing you can be sure of, a tenant is not likely to care for your home the way that you do, and the wear and tear that?he or she?places on your home is likely to negatively affect it?s value.
  8. Cost ? Be prepared to spend thousands of dollars on repairs upon the expiration of the tenant?s lease.

The bottom line is that, unless you are truly in a position to rent your home until prices in your area begin to climb, renting is a risky business.

Have you had discussions with your clients about selling vs. renting?

How receptive were they to your advice?

Whether you have been touched by divinity for the first time or are in need of a re-awakening, these spiritual blogs will inspire you on your journey.

Success Consciousness

This blog is for anyone who needs a positive boost. Books, articles and blog posts offer an abundance of research material. The great thing about this blog is its variety of voices, opinions and ideas. Various authors contribute meaningful and solid advice to help people reach peace, stay focused and overcome hardship. There is also a very active forum that offers discussion topics on personal development, success and spiritual growth.

In short: A dynamic resource for self-improvement, positive thinking, meditation, inner peace and spirituality.

True Spiritual Awakening

Steve Rice, author of this blog, is not your average guru. He is, however, an average Joe. Using colloquial language (yes, there is cursing) and everyday scenarios, Steve is a kind of no-nonsense spiritual leader who is passionate about teaching others to trust the wisdom in their souls as a tool to impact their lives. In addition to frequently updating his blog, Steve records podcasts!

In short: Small doses of big wisdom covering a variety of topics that are translated to everyday experiences.

Spiritual Awakening Process

Offering genuine compassion and sound insight into the (sometimes painful) process of spiritual awakening, this blog is my go-to for spiritual advice. The creator and author of the blog is Jim Tolles. He is a spiritual teacher who draws inspiration from an array of religious teachings. He?s written an eBook called Everyday Spirituality and he offers one hour classes and training sessions for interested students. My favorite thing about this site is the bounty of information it offers. (It?s hard to believe it?s all from one man.)

In short: A guide that navigates the process of spiritual awakening from beginning to enlightenment.

Indiana Tax Reporter: State Board of Accounts Establishes New ...

To: County Auditors

From: Paul Joyce, Deputy State Examiner of the State Board of Accounts

Brian Bailey, Commissioner of the Department of Local Government Finance

Date: July 24, 2012

Re: New Funds for Certain Income Tax Distributions

Implementation of the uniform county chart of accounts has brought to light that counties have been commingling income tax certified shares and distributive shares with property tax dollars. This practice fails to provide accountability for each of these revenue streams and any remaining balances. In order to avoid creating shortfalls in these commingled funds State Board of Accounts (SBOA) did not ask for change in 2012 but we are looking to improve the uniform accounting system in 2013 and beyond.

Beginning in 2013, the SBOA is instructing all county units to use funds, 1110, CAGIT County Certified Shares or 1121, COIT County Distributive Shares, as applicable, to receipt, disburse and account for balances of county income tax dollars not otherwise designated for special legislation or property tax relief. Planning and budgeting for this change is necessary during the 2013 budget process. Please enter these funds as new "home rule" funds in Gateway.

These new funds are separate income tax revenues for the purpose of fixing the county budget and may be used for any allowable governmental purpose. Salaries, fringe benefits, capital expenses are all appropriate uses of these funds. Income tax, however, is the only revenue source for the fund. The Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) recommends leaving costs that affect the maximum levy calculation in the general fund where the property tax is receipted. Costs affecting the maximum levy calculation for counties include the mental health and mental retardation contributions. Leaving these costs in the property tax supported fund should prevent possible future challenges.

It should be noted that no changes are required for CAGIT PTR, CAGIT for county specific legislation, COIT for county specific legislation, CEDIT or any of the LOITs for property tax relief. These amounts are already accounted for in separate funds.

Table Manners Card Game for Kids | Boomer GrandParents

How many ??cringe worthy? mother-moments can you still remember from when your kids were little? ?One of my most memorable occurred when my youngest daughter was about 5, and we had been invited for lunch at a friends house. ?Of course she waited for the ONLY split second interlude of silence at the table to loudly comment, ?Susan, my mom says it?s bad table manners to chew with your mouth open?! ?Okay, yup?I think I forgot we had to be someplace 5 minutes ago.

Before the kids or grandkids sit down to another holiday or family dinner, you might want to take a look at what creative mom Staci Ericson devised to reinforce good table manners in her home. The cards?are illustrated to depict good and bad table manners. ?Family members can exchange them during mealtimes, to encourage good table manners.

Germany, France: determined to protect eurozone

BERLIN (AP) ? The leaders of Germany and France added their weight to the battle to preserve the European single currency when they issued a joint statement Friday promising to do everything they can to stop the 17-country bloc from breaking up.

The statement from Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Francois Hollande was brief and didn't spell out any specific course of action. But it offered a show of unity by the leaders of the eurozone's two biggest economies.

"Germany and France are deeply committed to the integrity of the eurozone," the two leaders said in their statement. "They are determined to do everything to protect the eurozone."

To achieve that, they added, eurozone members and European institutions "must comply with their obligations, each in their own area of competence."

The statement, made after a telephone conversation between the two leaders Friday, came a day after Mario Draghi, president of the European Central Bank, told business leaders in London that the ECB would do "whatever it takes" to preserve the euro and raised expectations that he could step in to lower the high borrowing costs that are crippling countries like Spain and Italy.

Concerns about the 17 countries that use the euro have intensified over the past few weeks as evidence builds that economies across the region face deepening recessions. Spain and Italy, in particular, are finding it increasingly expensive to raise money on the debt markets due to spiraling borrowing costs. Investors are losing confidence that the countries will be able to control their debt while they are in recession.

Fears have also resurfaced that bailed-out Greece might yet be forced out of the single currency if it fails to carry out reforms that were a condition of its financial rescue.

Merkel and Hollande underlined the need to "implement quickly" decisions made by a European Union summit last month.

Those decisions included allowing Europe's bailout fund ? once a new, independent bank supervisor is set up ? to give money directly to a country's banks, rather than via the government. Countries that pledge to implement reforms demanded by the European Union's executive Commission also would be able to tap rescue funds without having to go through the kind of tough austerity measures demanded of Greece, Portugal and Ireland.

Markets across Europe rose following the statement with the FTSE 100 up 0.7 per cent and Germany's DAX index up 1.1 percent. In Spain, the main IBEX stock index was up 2.7 per cent while the borrowing rate on its 10-year bond ? a bellwether of market confidence in a country's ability to manage its debt ? was down to 6.73 percent. In Italy, the FTSE MIB stock index had risen 2.7 percent and its 10-year bond's interest rate was had fallen to 5.95 percent.

European finance ministers last week signed a rescue package worth up to ?100 billion ($122 billion) for Spain's ailing banks, but concern flared about Spain's prolonged recession and the debts of its regions, causing the country's borrowing costs to rise.

Merkel and Hollande made no specific reference to the ECB's role in helping solve the crisis, but Merkel's finance minister earlier Friday welcomed the remarks Draghi made. The comments have raised expectations that the ECB could step in to lower high borrowing costs ? possibly by buying government bonds.

The ECB has bought bonds to fight the crisis over the past two years, but has kept the program on hold for months. The bond purchases weren't popular in Germany, which feared the ECB was taking on excessive risk and argued that governments should bear the responsibility of restoring confidence in their economies by reducing public debt and reforming their labor markets.

Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble welcomes Draghi's pledge to "take the necessary measures to secure the euro in the framework of the existing ECB mandate," a ministry statement said. It didn't say anything about what those measures could be.

"The condition for this is that policymakers also take and implement the necessary measures to deal with the financial and confidence crisis," it added. "In the first place stand the reform efforts of the countries themselves."

Merkel and Sarkozy frequently issued joint declarations on the eurozone crisis, but the conservative German chancellor and the Socialist Hollande initially appeared at odds over how to handle it. Hollande has been critical of Germany's focus on painful austerity measures and called for a greater emphasis on growth.

Still, the pair has stressed the need for Germany and France to work together, and last month's summit featured an agreement on a package meant to encourage growth.

What You Don't Know About Italian Food - Free Link Directory

There is plenty of choice to choose from when having a starter and main course. Choosing a combination of a two or three course meal adds plenty of flavour to your meal. For example the tricore a florentina pizza and a chocolate dessert sounds a good choice on your visit to Italian restaurant Gants Hill.

The pizzas appear in different styles and toppings. The customers view of choice with pizzas rather than standard ones gives them something they would prefer to order. During your visit to this restaurant customers can listen to nice easy going music and have a pleasurable meal at same time.

In addition to to having either a starter or main course many dishes served with classic olive oil. Majority of Italian meals serve virgin olive oil and many flavours get released. Favourable sauces like tomato or pesto are also used on other main meals.

Keep a watch on promotional offers at this Italian restaurant in Gants Hill. Being a previous dinner I like to take privilege of next upcoming promotional offers. We certainly enjoyed the meal and especially at 20% discount over the queens jubilee.

Most people are satisfied with a good wine selection in this restaurant. It was difficult to know each wine brand on the menu, however their quality was excellent. A meal in this restaurant can still be liked even more with a non alcoholic beverages.

To comment further on my experience there is room for future visits to this restaurant. It is a fact that their website can speak for itself as well as the visit made. The price is adequately fair and without exaggeration they provide a gold star levels of service.

Many dinners travel to this restaurant from outside the North East London region. This denotes the popularity of this Italian restaurant is in Gants Hill. En route to visitors going to bars and clubs in the area the restaurants attracts a wide audience.

We will more than likely be on the lookout for the next offer available. There is a promotional offer present over the Olympics period. My advice is to use one of these promotional offers and not miss out on what this restaurant has in store.

Want to find out more about italian restaurants gants hill, then visit Enzo's Pizzeria site on how to choose the best italian food in london for your needs.

(AP Photo/Damian Dovarganes)

(AP) ? Chevron's net income fell nearly 7 percent in the second quarter as oil prices and production declined.

The oil giant said Friday it earned $7.21 billion, or $3.66 per share, last quarter. That compared with $7.73 billion, or $3.85, a year earlier. Revenue fell by 9 percent in the quarter to $62.6 billion.

Those results beat Wall Street estimates of $3.23 on revenue of $71.4 billion, according to FactSet. Shares rose by 24 cents to $108.51 in premarket trading.

Chevron Corp., the second-largest U.S. petroleum company behind Exxon Mobil, said production from its global network of oil and natural gas wells fell 2.6 percent in the second quarter. It also sold oil for lower prices in the U.S. and overseas. Natural gas fetched only half as much in the U.S. as it did a year earlier, though gas prices rose internationally.

The fall in production and prices was tempered by a surge in profits at Chevron's refining and marketing operations. Profits rose 80 percent as the company sold about $200 million in assets, including its stake in a South Korean energy business. Chevron's refineries were more profitable because the cost of oil fell and they sold gasoline and other fuels at higher prices on the West coast.

Like many of its peers, the San Ramon, Calif.-based company has increased spending on exploration this year, even though lower oil and gas prices are generating lower returns.

"Despite current weakness in the global economy, we continue to invest in our long-term growth projects to help deliver affordable energy to meet future demand," Chairman and CEO John Watson said.

A slump in oil and natural gas prices also weakened quarterly profits at Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell, Occidental Petroleum Corp. and ConocoPhillips. BP reports its second-quarter financial results next week.

Internet Marketing: What You Need To Know | BusinessesA-Z ...

Guru Product Blueprints

The Internet has revolutionized the way people do business; these days having an online presence is vital. Marketing online can certainly seem like a daunting task, and there are certainly many nuances that come with promoting your business online. This article will guide you through the steps you need to take in order to get the most out of marketing online.

Make your ad look like an article. Most consumers will be more inclined to look at something that looks like an article. They will want to hear what you have to say and will click on your ad. When they get to your sales pitch they will already be interested. A great internet marketing strategy is to offer some sort of reward to customers who refer other people to your site. Try offering some sort of coupon or rebate to people who bring you more business. This is a great way to expand the amount of traffic your site receives. A monthly newsletter can often be an effective way of increasing customer loyalty and revenue. Several businesses offer affordable, easy to use newsletter software that businesses can email out to their client base. By sharing about new products and services and keeping their name in customers' minds, businesses who send out newsletters can often see an increase in profit.

Don't forget the call to action. Every single piece of communication from you should include a link to your website, as well as a suggestion to "learn more", "get a free sample" and other enticing statements that make your visitors want to click over to your site. This will urge them to go further and result in higher viewers and higher sales.

Try to understand the impact of the financial markets on your product and how this can affect profit margin. Create a page that showcases a product that appeals to your potential clients' income levels in the current state of the economy. This adjustment can lead to higher brand loyalty and a better bottom line. Increase traffic to your own site pages by linking back to yourself. When you create new content, or a new page, make sure to include a link to your previous material, archives, or other relevant information. Durable goods orders ex-transportation fall in June

WASHINGTON (Reuters)- - New orders for a range of long-lasting manufactured goods fell in June and a gauge of planned business spending plans dropped, pointing to a slowdown in factory activity.

The Commerce Department said on Thursday durable goods orders excluding transportation dropped 1.1 percent, the biggest decline since January, after rising 0.8 percent in May. Economists had forecast this category being flat last month.

Overall orders increased 1.6 percent as demand for aircraft surged, after an upwardly revised 1.6 percent increase the prior month.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast orders for durable goods, items from toasters to aircraft that are meant to last at least three years, rising 0.4 percent after a previously reported 1.3 percent increase in May.

"The manufacturing sector is going through a weak patch with orders excluding transportation falling over the last three months. This is also the message of the sub-50 readings on the ISM manufacturing composite and new orders indexes for June," said John Ryding, chief economist at RDQ Economics in New York.

Details of the report were generally weak, with declines in new orders for computers, fabricated metal products, electrical equipment and appliances and machinery.

Fears of tighter fiscal policy in early 2013 and a lingering debt crisis in Europe are dampening demand, causing a cooling in manufacturing activity. Factories have been the main pillar of support for the sluggish economic recovery.

Last month, orders for transportation equipment rose 8.0 percent as demand for civilian aircraft soared 14.3 percent, offsetting a 0.6 percent fall in new orders for motor vehicles. The decline in autos was the largest since September last year.

Boeing received orders for 24 planes in June, up from 8 in May, according to information posted on the plane maker's website. That accounted for some of the jump in transportation orders. Orders for defense aircraft surged 23.9 percent after rising 11.2 percent in May.

Non-defense capital goods orders excluding aircraft, a closely watched proxy for business spending plans, fell 1.4 percent after increasing 2.7 percent May.

Economists had expected this category to rise 0.6 percent after a previously reported 2.1 percent increase the prior month.

Shipments of non-defense capital goods orders excluding aircraft, used to calculate equipment and software spending in the gross domestic product report, increased 1.2 percent after rising 1.1 percent in May.

The increase suggests spending on equipment and software grew in the second quarter, but probably nowhere near levels seen in 2011.

Orders for defense capital goods soared 62.0 percent in June, the biggest rise since December 2007.

The government is expected to report on Friday that the economy grew at a 1.5 percent annual rate in the second quarter, according to a Reuters survey, slowing from the 1.9 percent rate in the prior three months.

Scuba Diving Starter Guide - Scuba Diving | The Adrenalist

The heat of mid-summer is officially upon us. You have two options: sit in the air conditioning, staring longingly out the window at unrealized dreams being melted away by the hot summer sun, or you can strap a tank of air to your back and dive deeply enough into the water to escape the scorching heat. That?s an easy choice for an Adrenalist.

Scuba diving, however, isn?t as simple as slipping into a wetsuit and using an air tank to breathe underwater. Climate, local wildlife, the effects of compressed atmosphere on your body, even basic movement all require special training and consideration. You?re preparing yourself to enter an environment that is hostile to you in every fundamental way.

The tradeoff is an opportunity to see wonders that few will ever behold, but you?ve got to prepare.

Here is your scuba diving starter guide.

Certification

Scuba is derived from the acronym SCUBA, or Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. If you?re a person living in the modern-day world then you can probably call up a mental image easily enough: wetsuit-encased diver with air tank on back and breathing hose leading to mouth. Your first step to getting there yourself is certification.

There?s no centralized agency for getting your diver cert and training squared away. You?ll have to choose one from a larger pool. Most beachside vacation resorts also offer some sort of scuba training program. While you can certainly track down a more local solution, there?s something to be said for using your poolside lounging time to prepare for your certification tests.

Since there?s no centralized program, training and certification mostly boils down to common sense. There?s technically nothing stopping you from going out and buying all of the necessary gear, then running off into the ocean to try it out. It?s not recommended though. All goes back to the whole ?hostile environment on all sides? thing.

The three most well-known scuba organizations in the United States are the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI), the Professional Diving Instructors Corporation (PDIC), and the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). All of them offer the full suite of resources you?ll need to get started, from training course search features to gear and dive recommendations. There are even a few eCourses available, though you?ll eventually need to strap on a tank and spend some time with an actual instructor.

Start out with beginner courses, especially if you?re not already used to spending lots of time in the water. Learning simple things like how to swim and how to more effectively hold your breath underwater are vitally important, so start there if you need to. Once you?ve got the fundamentals taken care of, it?ll be a lot easier to move onto the more dive training-specific lessons.

The Science of Scuba

Before we go any further, just know: this is in no way a substitute for the training that you would receive from a proper dive program. It?s helpful to understand concepts like how breathing apparatuses work and what the physical conditions are like underwater, but nothing will prepare you as well as an actual certification course will, especially if said course includes actual dive time with an experienced diver.

There are two basic types of breathing apparatus that are commonly used by scuba divers. The more common of the two is the single-hose open-circuit regulator. It?s a two-stage diving regulator with stops at the tank on your back and your mouthpiece to manage the flow of air. The two stages help to ensure that you?re receiving air at the right pressure level. Exhalations are released directly into the water, which is why you?ll often see a lot of bubbles coming from divers in video footage.

The less common apparatus is defined as a rebreather. Instead of venting out exhaled gas, the rebreather works by recycling your exhalations, resulting in the release of few or no bubbles. They?re mostly used when it?s important to maintain a low-profile, such as with underwater photography. Rebreathers are expensive and require special training, and as such they?re not nearly as common. For the most part, you can expect to encounter open-circuit regulated breathing apparatuses.

Underwater diving affects your vision, particularly when you?re in a saltwater environment. A diving mask of some kind will correct this to a limited degree, but objects will nonetheless appear to be both larger and closer than they actually are. Learning how to adjust your hand-eye coordination is a big part of scuba training. You?ll also need the right kind of mask; swimming goggles won?t cut it, since divers must periodically exhale through the nose during a descent in order to equalize the pressure inside the mask with the surrounding water.

The changing pressure of the surrounding environment is perhaps one of the biggest safety concerns for divers. Ascend or descend too quickly, and you risk suffering the effects of a barotrauma injury. This can mean death or extended periods of post-dive time in a decompression chamber in extreme scenarios. Avoid barotrauma by taking your time when moving to a different depth, using specialized gear like an inflatable drysuit and performing simple pressure-equalizing exercises like exhaling through your nose or clearing out your ears (much like you would on an airplane).

Gearing Up

When it comes to scuba gear, there?s really no?right? or ?best? option. What you use is more geared around what fits your level of training and what feels comfortable to you on a personal level. Let?s focus on what?s most common for recreational diving.

Think of recreational diving as the natural evolution of snorkeling. The latter activity is great for shallow-water exploration, but it?s inherently limited due to the snorkel mask?s need to be at or close to the water?s surface. Scuba diving equipment, even for recreational practitioners, is a lot more elaborate. You?ll need a suit, a breathing apparatus equipped with pressure regulators, a mask and a dive computer. Fins for your feet are helpful as well, for getting around more easily underwater.

For recreational diving, don?t expect to ever explore much deeper than 130 feet or so. The risks associated with diving become much more pressing at greater depths. That?s the realm of professional diving, and it?s also where you start to see gear like rebreathers become more common.

Expect to spend around $1,000 to completely gear up with your own scuba equipment. Package deals can be found for as little as $600-700, but they won?t always come with every piece that you need. Most packages set you up with a breathing apparatus and related technologies, but pieces like the suit (wet or dry), fins and mask are typically sold separately.

You?ll find any number of stores online catering to recreational and professional divers, but newcomers that want to spend money on their own gear will be best off exploring the websites of one of the larger scuba organizations. In reality, rental is the most cost-effective option. If you intend to dive very regularly, buying your gear is definitely an option to consider. Otherwise, you?ll often find that most resorts with some sort of scuba training program will also offer you the option of renting gear and heading out with a group for some dive time.

Michael Jackson family dispute sparks concern

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Michael Jackson's family members found themselves at the center of a media firestorm on Tuesday over the late singer's will and guardianship of his three children that prompted questions about the children, his mother and his multimillion-dollar estate.

The executors of Jackson's estate attempted to stanch reports they plan to seek guardianship of the "Thriller" singer's children over 82-year-old family matriarch Katherine Jackson, but did express concern for protecting the three children from "undue influences, bullying and greed."

Katherine Jackson was given guardianship of Prince Michael, 15, Paris, 14 and Blanket, 10, following Jackson's death at age 50 from an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol in 2009.

In recent days, Katherine Jackson was reported to police as missing, but she turned up in the Arizona home of her daughter, Rebbie, and police closed their case on Monday.

"She's been playing cards every day. She is having a good time. Her health was ailing. And her doctors order(ed) that she get immediate rest, isolate herself from the outside world and rest. She wasn't doing too well," Michael's brother Randy Jackson told Rev. Al Sharpton on cable TV network MSNBC.

Randy Jackson also renewed claims that Jackson estate executors - John Branca and John McClain - had concocted a scheme to forge the pop star's signature on a will that made the pair administrators of Michael Jackson's estate.

The Los Angeles-based executives have for years rejected such claims over the estate that, with rights to numerous pop songs, is valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Jackson's interview followed a statement from Branca and McClain on Tuesday in which they said: "We are acutely concerned about the welfare of Mrs. Jackson, and most particularly with Michael's minor children. We are concerned that we do what we can to protect them from undue influences, bullying, greed, and other unfortunate circumstances.

"While we do not have standing to directly intervene, we have monitored the situation and will continue to do so. We believe measures are being put in place that will help protect them from what they are having to deal with," Branca and McClain said in the joint statement.

NEW TURMOIL, OLD CLAIMS

Michael's daughter Paris tweeted on Tuesday that she hadn't spoken to her grandmother in nine days. Celebrity website TMZ.com reported that Branca and McClain would head to court to support a move for temporary guardianship of Jackson's children on behalf of Tito Jackson Jr., 34, the son of Tito Jackson and cousin to Jackson's children.

ABC television chat program "Good Morning America" posted a video taken from what it claimed was a security camera of a confrontation among family members in the driveway of the Jackson's Los Angeles-area home.

In his interview with Sharpton, Randy Jackson said he and his sister Janet Jackson went there on Monday but "were kind of denied access."

"We did go to the home to let Paris and Prince know that they can visit with or talk to their grandma at any time," Jackson said. "This is all an effort to try to deflect attention away from a letter that was written asking for the resignation of John Branca and John McClain."

The letter, signed by Jackson siblings Tito, Randy, Jermaine, Janet and Rebbie, claimed that the Jackson estate executors had presented a fraudulent will of the late singer to the family and their actions were affecting Katherine's health.

When the letter surfaced last week, the executors issued a statement saying "any doubts about the validity of Michael's will and his selection of executors were thoroughly and completely debunked two years ago when a challenge was rejected by the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the California Court of Appeals and, finally, the California Supreme Court."

On Sharpton's show, Jackson repeated past claims that his brother could not have signed the will because he was in New York City the weekend of the signing. Sharpton showed a video of him and Jackson that he said was taken that weekend in New York.

In his will, Jackson had stipulated that money earned by his estate would benefit his mother and his three children.

Why I Chose a HVAC Career | Professionals Around the World

When it came time to choose my career path, I was very indecisive. One thing I did know, however, was that I did not want to have to sit behind a desk all day. I wanted something where I could be out and about, meeting new people and helping them in some way. This led me to decide on pursuing a career in HVAC, or heating ventilation and air conditioning. After obtaining my degree, I was lucky enough to find employment with a Tampa, FL air conditioning company.

Every day on the job brings something different. No maintenance run is exactly the same, which is just what I like. The summer months are understandably busier than during the winter but to be honest there is no real down time. All ?home and business owners should have their heating and cooling system serviced at least every six months, more if it is for a larger structure. I enjoy the satisfaction I get when the owner thanks me for a job well done. A clean unit is important because it will improve the air quality in the home which will, in turn, help with any respiratory issues there may be. Another reason I chose this path is that I would eventually like to run my own business. I?m gaining valuable experience by being an HVAC technician. By knowing all aspects of what the job entails, I will have the knowledge needed to ensure my business is successful. In warmer climates like Tampa, FL, it is important that the air conditioning companies are able to meet the demands of the high temperatures and humidity. It is fulfilling to me that I can go to a customer?s home and improve their living conditions by fixing their air conditioning unit.

If this sounds like a job that you would be interested in, the experts at JDK would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Calligraphy Pens for Invites - Comments for lnodenison.com

Even today with modern-day writing devices, pcs and printers have raised the aesthetic value of the printed term. But those constructed with calligraphy pens for announcements simply amaze and turn heads ? as people value individual talent and expertise the most. However, this specific creative writing device has lost the relevance to modern society and has been exchanged by more intensive phenomenal writing resources. Thus, when people go through the earliest copy with the Bible, it offers them surreal feelings about how precisely the monks been successful in the art of calligraphy and finished all the text messages of the Holy Publication.

What are calligraphy pens? Sometimes referred to as a dip pen, this is the prime innovative writing tool or perhaps instrument used in the technique of calligraphy. This description is actually apt, since calligraphy dog pens originally had to be dipped in ink to produce the desired images. Calligraphy pens are viewed similar to the calligraphy brushes utilized by Chinese and Japoneses artists. Traditional calligraphy compose has two items; the penholder, which could be produced of wood or perhaps the ancient times made out of bones; and the nib, that today incidentally will be of metal.

Exactly how are calligraphy pens used? Similar to the ancient calligraphy nib of quills or reeds, the modern creative creating tool version made from hard metal features a straight edge, not the same as fountain pen that?s rounded. The compose must be held in a constant angle with all the paper throughout the whole stroke to create your thin and solid lines that are particular in calligraphy. For instance, when coming up with a number (zero) ? place the nib on the most suitable part with the edge concurrent to the horizontal axis of the number. Take note which zero will need a couple of strokes to complete, so start at the top along with pull the nib down to form a semi-circle. Utilize the same process to complete the other half of actually zero (number). If no deviation is made, the quantity will have thin lines at the top that gradually increases in size (equal to the width of the nib) as it moves almost of the semi-circle and time for thin lines with the base of the number.

Calligraphy can be an art and not 2 different people will be able to produce comparable calligraphy output. The reason is influenced by the skills and imaginative inclination of the 1 doing it. That is why the particular calligraphy pens for invites, for instance, when utilised by a trained and practiced artist will be able to provide you with the most sought after consequence. However, using the same calligraphy pens for invitations is not going to produce stunning outcomes when used by one less inclined; expertise and experience deemed. The monks that did the calligraphy with the entire texts in the Bible must really be blessed with superb artistic talent, aside from the numerous years of training and knowledge.

Remember that if your credit cards and invitations have to be enshrined with a degree of classiness, give a trained professional the best calligraphy pens with regard to invitations and watch your ex do wonders using the creative writing application at his fingertips.

Being in top-level management for upwards of 10 years, Greg Nowak understands how important it is to reduce costs and deal with office supply spending as effectively as you can. That is why Greg recommends Northland Low cost for your wholesale workplace supply requirements.

Ford Transit | Car Reviews, finance, lease & purchase tips

We don?t often write articles about Transit vans, but I was so amazed by the testing process from Ford I had to share.

Designers at Ford had one objective. To offer the largest loading space for one tonne vehicles while keeping inline with the streamlined appearance.

The Ford Transit van 2012Special consideration was given to the bulkhead and body side when optimizing available space. This dedication to the process enable Ford to offer the best in class load volume to their customers. A short wheelbase model has 6.0m3 with a full bulkhead fitted. The long wheelbase respectively with 6.8m3.

Included with the new design is locking check arms on the cargo doors, helping with safety while loading/unloading. Tie down hooks have been repositioned to easier load items on the floor space. Ultra-bright LED lighting has been installed to improve hull visibility.

The testing procedure is more of a punisher treatment. First a computer simulates changes throughout the vehicles lifespan. But after this the prototypes will total a combine mileage of over three million miles in real life testing.

The most brutal test is known as the ?Trailer Tow General Durability? which condense a 10 year vehicle life cycle into an accelerate form for six month, running 24/7. It consists of towing a fully laden trailer across the toughest worldwide conditions.

For more in depth information on the Transit design and safety click on the link below.
